How to make an NFC digital business card, step by step

Not sure what to put on it, or whether to use a contact card or a link? Read NFC business card: what to include first.

What you need

  • An NFC sticker, card or key tag. Small tags have limited space, so a short contact card or a link fits best.
  • Your phone and NFC Ninja.
  • Your details: name, role and business, mobile, email and website.

Make the card in five steps

NFC Ninja is coming soon to iPhone and Android. These steps follow the current app design.

  1. Choose Digital business card. On Home, tap Write a Tag and choose Digital business card. Or open the Library and tap Use this idea on Digital Business Card.
  2. Add your details. Keep it short so it fits on the tag.

  3. Preview it. Check every field and the encoded size before you write.

  4. Write the tag. Hold the card or sticker near your phone until the write finishes. If the tag already has something on it, NFC Ninja asks before replacing it.
  5. Let it check itself. NFC Ninja reads the tag back and only shows success when the contents match.

Keep it up to date

Your setup is saved in My Tags. When your number or role changes, edit it and write it again. Making cards for a team? Duplicate yours and change the details. NFC Ninja never locks a tag, so you can rewrite it whenever you need to.

Check it before you print a batch

Tap the finished card with an iPhone and an Android phone. Contact fields can show differently from phone to phone, so check that your name, number and email come through the way you want.

Frequently asked
questions

What should I put on an NFC business card?

Your name, role and business, mobile, email and website. Leave out long notes and photos, because tags have limited space.

How do I know the card worked?

NFC Ninja reads the tag back after writing and only shows success when what it reads matches what you wrote.

Can I change my details later?

Yes. Edit the saved setup in My Tags and write it again. NFC Ninja never locks tags.

Will every phone show my details the same way?

Not always. Contact fields can differ by phone, so tap the card with an iPhone and an Android phone and check what comes through.
